How to solve Mini Sudoku

Each row, column and bold 2×3 box must contain 1–6 exactly once. Given numbers cannot change. Select an empty cell, then a number.

Eliminate candidates with rows, columns and boxes

Start with the top-left 2×3 box. A is row 1, column 3; B is row 2, column 2. Dots are empty cells.

Worked example · dots are empty
12A4·6
4B612·
2·3614
6142·3
·42361
361·42
  1. The box already contains 1, 2, 4 and 6. Both A and B therefore have candidates {3, 5}.
  2. Column 3 contains a 3 in row 3. A column cannot repeat 3, so remove it from A: A = 5.
  3. The box now has 5, leaving B = 3. Check that row 2 and column 2 contain no other 3 before entering it.

A = 5, B = 3

If several candidates remain, do not guess. Keep pencil notes and examine other rows, columns and boxes. A hint fills an answer, so distinguish it from solving the cell yourself.
