Rules and controls

Black moves first; White gets 7.5 komi. Capture opposing groups with no liberties. Suicide and repeated board positions (positional superko) are forbidden. Two passes open dead-stone review. Score by area: live stones plus surrounded empty points.

Beginner strategy

Build from corners and edges. Watch for groups with only one liberty. A group with two eyes is safe.
